Bedford Row Chambers - 3D Laser Scanning Survey
Location: Bedford Row Chambers, Holborn, Central London
Project description
Bedford Row Chambers is in the Holborn Area of central London. It's part of a terrace of Grade II listed Georgian townhouses.
A highly detailed 3D laser scanning survey was undertaken in conjunction with a Leica Total Station, to accurately capture the offices and law chambers within this historic building. The resulting deliverables included highly accurate architectural AutoCAD drawings produced at a 1:100 scale.
The survey specification was to produce detailed floor plans, roof plans, external elevations and multiple sectional elevations. For this particular project, we decided on using a Faro 3D laser scanner in order to navigate the small corridors and vaults, particularly at basement level.
A baseline was set up in the street using a Leica Total Station, in order to install a permanent survey control network and establish a Datum level. The individual scans collected over 3 days by the laser scanner were then registered by our experts back in the office, to produce a point cloud model of the full building.
The final CAD drawings were then produced by our technicians and sent to the director to QC before sending to our client.
